Georgetown: Still Lucky
Everyone was talking lucky yesterday. Big John Thompson, as mentioned several places, was standing outside the locker room talking about luck. "Those Hoyas got lucky again," he said, according to Barker Davis. "We were lucky," he boomed, "We were lucky," according to Sally Jenkins.
"We won the Big East for the second year in a row, and people are still saying that we're not the best team in the Big East," DaJuan Summers told her. "That's kind of crazy to me, as a player. With people questioning that, we have to play with a chip on our shoulder."
"A lot of people said we were lucky," Pat Ewing said to Newsday. "I didn't know you could get lucky so many times."
The implication being that these Hoyas ARE NOT lucky. And then they come to the Big East Tournament and, in the quarterfinals, the 2, 3 and 4 seeds all get knocked off, clearing out the path to a Big East title and a 2 seed, while the Hoyas were back in their hotel rooms playing Uno or whatever. Sorry, Georgetown. But that was lucky.
(Just for the record, all this is said in jest, so if you choose to post a comment, please don't make it of the "Steinburg your an idiot!!?!?!?!" variety.)
