The Many Jackets of Gilbert

Last night's suit coat, which prevented the $10k fine. (Nick Wass/AP)

The Wizards are clearly gearing up for the postseason, what with DeShawn's mouth-running and Gilbert's drama on the night he was supposed to be wearing his Hibachi shoes.

In fact, the crux of the "Gilbert's gone home!" drama from last night appears to have been a suit coat; Gil didn't have one, and Ivan Carter reports that another bench appearance sans suit coat would mean a $10,000 fine for Gil. Which seems clearly wrong, because, suit coat or no suit coat, Gilbert has been looking well put-together, if somewhat casual, all season. A further sampling after the jump.

By the way, the with/without Caron Butler breakdown now stands at 28-21 with, and 8-12 without. Believe it or not, the 28-21 winning percentage (.571) would only bump the Wiz up from the fifth seed to the four seed, so in the long run the Caron injury may have caused no greater harm than home-court advantage in the first round, which, since we're talking about Cleveland, home of the flaming scoreboard and the 'isms, is not insignificant.

I heard the league is looking into fining Wizards equipment manager Rob Suller if he continues to sit behind the bench with hot wings stains on his shirt.

I feel that the players are in the leag to play ball not for a fashion show. As long as thay are in business casual that should be sufficient. Now being that the rule is in play. How hard is it to have a jacket with you. That would be like leaving your shoes to play in. If any of you players want to give me a single mom 10,000 that is half my years pay. It would be a blessing for my little one and myself. Just let me know. Gilbert thank you for being so kind and making sure that I got my shirt signed when you came to Orlando. Much love; you realy know what it means to give back. The fans are who pay your salary. You get that!!! As well as understand that it makes a differents on so many other levels. God Bless PMS
