Nats Have a Uniform Glitch

You're gonna have to stare awhile. (Drew Hallowell/Getty)

Only the truly deranged could have noticed this, but the letter "I" in the middle of Matt Chico's uniform did, in fact, appear to be upside-down last night. An old image search reveals that Chico's road jersey last year was like that of his teammate, with the gold highlights on the left side of the "I" as you look at it from home plate. Yesterday, the gold was on the right, even as his teammates wore the standard look.

Are there interns in the clubhouse ironing on these letters in the hours before the opening pitch? Did Chico deliberately sabotage his own uniform? Doesn't "The Gold-Tinted Upside-Down Eye" sound like a plot twist in a Dan Brown novel? Lastly, and most importantly, does Vegas put odds on which MLB player will be the first to sport an upside-down vowel on his uniform each spring?
