D.C. Sports Media Approval Ratings: Brett Haber

As his official bio points out, Brett Haber's "unique writing style and witty approach have made him one of the most innovative sportscasters in the country." This can be seen in promos of him knitting with Gary Williams and clowning with Donald Brashear.

Haber, who is the sports director and primary sports anchor for WUSA (channel 9) joined the station in November of 2004. Prior to that, Haber worked as sports director for WCBS-TV in New York, sports director for WTTG-TV in D.C. and as a SportsCenter host for ESPN, teaming with Craig Kilborn. He also covered tennis for ESPN His play-by-play experience ranges from the legends tennis tour to pro bull riding to pro cycling to the Running of the Bulls. He lives in Bethesda, and, like every television sports personality in this area, he has a non-functional blog.

Bearing in mind that you have just two options, here's your chance to judge Brett Haber. Choose carefully, and offer explanation below.

Past Results after the jump.

Chick Hernandez (82 percent approval)

Steve Czaban (75 percent approval)

Tony Kornheiser (74 percent approval)

I don't know too much about Brett Haber, which means he's obviously not a complete jerk (see: Steve Czaban, Larry Michael). so I left it to Wikipedia...

Disapprove. Kinda douche-y attitude altogether. Plus, he's kinda lazy at his job. Meh.

Can you really approve or disapprove somebody that's on-air about 5 minutes total every day? This guy is just filler for the weather nerds. I voted disapprove, only because he unsuccessfully tries to be funny in such a short amount of time. Also, a couple of years ago, he hosted a morning radio show for a teenybop radio station, so that has to count against him, too.

The guy works for Ch. 9...

Question - will Lindsay Czarniak get the Approval Rating's first 100%?

I find him to be kinda boring, plus he doesn't actually do much. Disapprove.

Generic; functional; non-offensive.

Approve, narrowly.

I'm pulling for the former Duke Bombshell, but I'm sure that there's some out there with a grudge and a lack of subjectivity...Though the latter half will definitely argue the lack of subjectivity if she gets 100%. So who knows, probably means the fall of civilization or sosemthing.

Don't have any real opinion on Haber, he was okay when he was at Ch. 5, don't watch ch. 9 news. But I'll always remember that he was the guy who broke the news that the NFL owners preferred Snyder as an owner over the other guy and Haber found this out by just happening to be in an adjourning room where he could overhear the commish talking.

I think he's actually the best sportscaster in DC. Funny, good writer and smart -- which is something sorely lacking in local sports. He doesn't treat me like an idiot when I watch his show. I like him.

Lazy? If I'm not mistaken Haber broke the story of the Nationals being sold to the Lerners AND of the Caps being sold to Leonsis et al back in the '90's... I see the guy all over town WAY more than other heads... definitely not lazy.

Haber is a douche. He acts like he's a celebrity, and is definitely smarmy. The ads are funny though...

@FiveForFighting: Speaking as someone who's had to work with him, he's def. lazy - at least in the field in which I worked. This town's crappy pro sports aren't the only sports being played.
