Morning Look: Dmitri With Head of Steam

Tough times for Nats fans, no? But I reckon it's impossible to look at this photo and not cheer for Dmitri Young. The tuft of soul patch quivering like a North Carolina palm tree in hurricane season, both feet hovering lightly off the ground like hummingbirds at dusk, the helmet a once-vivid dream bouncing backwards toward oblivion, the shirt for now winning its endless battle against the laws of physics. It's just wonderful. And if I'm gonna link to a video of Dmitri legging out a would-be triple, can't see why I shouldn't show an action shot of him legging out a would-be double.
This shot is from The Post's John McDonnell, taken during Saturday's loss to the Rangers. It reminds us that, even in losses, there's always something worth watching.

Did you see how hard it was for him to get that helmet off?
D. Young needs a ripcord.

This might be the greatest writing this bog has ever seen.

I'd like to see this picture...but with D. Young shirtless. I feel this would give us a greater feel for the effort this man has put toward moving this mass in such a graceful manner.

Whoever says baseball is a real sport needs a b****slap across the face. So instead of cheering for the team, we're cheering for the fat kid to run around all the bases. It's amazing what you can do with Dunlap Syndrome. I'm truly amazed.

Gorgeous piece, Steinbog.
You've really hit one out of the ballpark here. Thumbing your nose at the Sports Consecrated school of ecstatic baseball writing. AND giving Dmitri some backhanded love.
Bless you, sir.
