Morning Look: Ladies Night!

So last night was Ladies Night Out at Nats Park, a fascinating event featuring "live entertainment, happy hour drink specials, complimentary hors d'oeuvres, wine tasting, massages and manicures," right outside the Grand Staircase at the park.

There were also demonstrations and product samples featuring more than 20 exhibitors, player appearances, celebrity appearances (Ricardo Antonio Chavira from Desperate Housewives, DJ Chris Styles from the Wizards games), plus The Savvy Girls of Summer signing copies of their new book, "It Takes More Than Balls." Gabrielle Union was unavoidably detained by a flight delay.

And what brought out the ladies, such as those pictured above? "Because they said there'd be pedicures, manicures and wine," said Robin Wheeler of Silver Spring, one of those pictured above.

The demonstrators included Mary Kay, Washington Sports Club, Nail Taxi, Budweiser, Honest Tea, Arbonne International, Kysela wines and Mimi's Variety. It was a very diverse mix of demonstrators, I'd say. Oh, and don't forget Slumber Parties, Inc., whose Web site you might not want to visit at work. They had a spinning wheel with prize type things that you can see on the right. I blushed, multiple times.

(PS: Note how mature I was in not making any tasteless jokes concerning Elijah Dukes having a career performance during Ladies Night Out.)

The picture is not completely clear but was there not a spot on the wheel where a lucky lady could win a night out with Elijah Dukes?

Was the reaction to "Sweet Caroline" louder than usual last night? Lord knows, I hope not. (I like to think Nats' female fans are intelligent and knowledgeable about baseball, not casual pink-hatted Red Sox wannabes.)

I was at the park from 5:30 til the bitter end, and had absolutely no idea it was Ladies Night. Did they promote this at all? Where were the Ladies?

For the record, I could have sworn it was Fat Mid-Westerner In A Too-Tight Albert Pujols Jersey Night.
