Durant Goes Off, and Rhyming Ovechkin

Is it possible that I'm still off the clock? I mean, just how lazy are bloggers, exactly?

(Seriously, this slowness is partially because of the impending Olympics timesuck, and partially because if someone offers to let you not work and still get paid, you should probably say "yes thanks." Full-on bogging returns Sunday morning for Skins camp. In the meantime....)

Kevin Durant goes off for 60 in a Goodman League game at Barry Farms. Lawrence Moten and Tony Bethel and assorted others were also playing. Sounds, um, cool. Word is Durant is playing again tonight. If you never follow my links, make an exception and read this one. (D.C. Metro Sports)

What rhymes with Alex Ovechkin? In rap style? Click here to find out. (Japers' Rink)

Bruce Boudreau seems like a nice guy. (John Walton Hockey)

Next weekend's Crystal City Twilighter has, you guessed it, a Fred Smoot's Smack feature, called the "One Mile Smack Down!." Like I said, you guessed it. "Think you can throw the smack down? The first male and female runner to the one mile mark will win $80! Winners will be determined by gun time and must finish the race! A race official will be posted at the one mile mark and will be the final judge in who wins the One Mile Smack Down! Brought to you by Smack Energy Bar." Clearly I need to hire Smack's marketer to get some Sports Bog product placement in this town.

And if you haven't been reading the "What's Smackin' " blog, you might want to start. (Fred Smoot's Smack)

Will this Cleveland-D.C. hoops rivalry never end? Now a Cleveland media writer is reporting that the Cavs beat writer at the Plain Dealer got demoted for writing a game story in the Washington Times when he was supposed to be on assignment. I believe this was just a plot hatched by Tom Knott to get back at Cleveland for treating us so rudely. (via Waiting for Next Year)

New city rivalry, by the way. I never mentioned Gilbert's blog and his Milwaukee hatred, but it's nice to see Milwaukee's best fighting back. Ninth best city for young professionals. Who knew? Waiting for Gilbert's retraction.

Sorry for the late notice, but Lindsay Czarniak bobblehead night at the Baysox was changed to last night. But good news! "The Baysox will distribute a limited number of Czarniak bobble head collectibles on the originally scheduled giveaway date of Monday, July 21 when the Baysox take on the Harrisburg Senators at 7:05 pm."

The very popular Dave Johnson says talk of a Redskins stadium in D.C. is a slap in the face for D.C. United. (Via Behind the Badge)
