Wiz Select New Dance Team

Meet your new Wiz dance team. Right now. Say hello.

It's hard to remember a three-day span during the supposedly tired part of the D.C sports calendar that's been quite like this. Within the past 24 hours, perhaps the third-most important players for both the Wiz (Antawn Jamison) and the Caps (Mike Green) have signed four-year deals, causing several thousand sighs of relief among those fan bases. And then there was Sunday, when within a two-hour stretch, D.C. United crushed the Beckhams, the Nats walked-off the Orioles and the Wiz announced their new dance team. No, I'm serious.

Full disclosure, I arrived at Verizon for the open-to-the-public dance team final cuts about 12 minutes too late, time enough to hear the shrieks as dance teamers celebrated with their families but not time enough to actually see or talk with any of the newcomers. The Wiz, of course, have your needs covered, with a 21-photo gallery of the auditions, a chance to vote on the final member--cruelly shredding the dreams of one of two hopefuls in the most public way possible--and several batches of video highlights.

The bios aren't up yet, but I have it on good authority that the members include one woman getting a doctorate in pharmaceuticals, another who used to cheer for the Atlanta Falcons, and a third who works on the Hill. And you were worried that the Wizards weren't going to make any significant offseason acquisitions. The question is, who's this town's next key signing? Cristobal Huet, Gilbert Arenas, Brooks Laich, Alicia or Danielle?

Andray Blatche stopped by to give his opinion on unrealized potential and imagined upside. And to stare.
