Kids Protect Kobe With Human Wall
I don't have much to add to this photo, other than to say the mass of microphone-and-camera- yielding humanity that surged around Kobe Bryant got pretty intense today. People were climbing up on stage to surround Kobe, and then leaping off the stage to, among other things, elbow me in the head.
Finally, some of the volunteers were instructed to join hands and form a wall to protect the stage from the surging masses.
I was mostly preoccupied with snapping stalker photos, during the hour-long media availability, but I did catch this dialogue with Melo.
Reporter: What's that gonna be like Sunday, some people are saying it might be the most watched basketball game ever.
Carmelo: Yeah, it might. I think it is. I think it's close to 3 billion people gonna be watching that game? That's a lot of people.
Reporter: Well, I don't know about 3 billion, but....
Carmelo: That's what they say
Reporter: That's like 60 percent of the world.
Carmelo: That's what they say, they say 3 billion, that's what I hear.
Reporter: Where'd you hear that from?
Carmelo: You've got to ask Coach K, man. That's a lot of people, ain't it?
In U.S. sports blogging terms, there's pretty much kids with funny shaved heads, team handball, the Redeem Team, and then everyone else.
