Morning Look: Ovechkin and Campbell

Images of the post-game meeting between Alex Ovechkin and Clinton Portis may have been lost to history, but some fans managed to get shots of the post-game meeting between Ovechkin and the always chatty Jason Campbell in the players parking lot. I'm told they exchanged one of those handshake-to-hug greetings, then chatted while Mike Green and Nicklas Backstrom stood off to the side. Oh, for a transcript.

Alex: Let's go each nachos and drink Coke!

Jason: Ovie's crazy. I try to just go out and play and enjoy the game and just try to put my team in good situations. I hurt my groin. It was definitely bothering me for a while, but once I got it loose it was better.

Alex: Russian Machine never breaks!

Anyhow, to answer the obvious question no, Ovechkin apparently never removes that hat. Until he goes to Calgary:

This is Alexander Ovechkin, after the long flight in from Washington: He is wearing a tuque, in the Capitals' colour scheme, with the No. 8 emblazoned on it, which immediately conjures up a Cat in the Hat sort of aesthetic. The crooked grin contributes to the look, as does the melting ice cream bar that he's holding in one hand, but can't get to eat as he patiently fields a barrage of questions.

What else did he tell the fawning reporters in Calgary yesterday? That he reads all the Caps message boards, that they're "pretty funny," that the Redskins are "big and strong; I'm a little kid," and that while he's started slowly offensively, "it's coming. Don't worry...you'll see."
