Bruce Boudreau Discusses His Bobblehead
My workspace inspirations.
I'm kind of changing my mind about this Sunday's Redskins Rally Rag giveaway, since I figure free stuff for fans is always good. (Although the name is certainly frightful.) But this weekend's premier "free stuff for fans" event, of course, happens tonight in Fudd Town, when the first 15,000 fans can pick up a Bruce Boudreau bobblehead. With that in mind, WTOP's Jonathan Warner asked Boudreau and his wife Crystal for some bobblish thoughts yesterday, and I stuck around to steal some quotes. Warner's audio will run during one of the intermissions tonight.
On the look
Bruce: "At first i was against the idea...but when I saw it, I thought they did a really god job on it. I mean, I hate seeing my picture anywhere, but I thought it looked pretty good."
Crystal: "I wouldn't change a thing. I like them....I mean, as far as a bobblehad goes, I think they got his mouth perfect. Like, when I look at it, I see him. And, you know, it's a bobblehead, it's not gonna be 100 percent, but I think they did a good job."
On whether they make it bobble
Bruce: "Well, I mean, it's a natural inclination to do it, don't you think?"
Crystal: "Every time I want a yes answer, I just go to the bobblehead."
On whether they'll get a huge allotment of the figurines:
Bruce: "I don't even know if we have any. Ask Crystal, because I don't have a clue. I really don't know anything other than hockey."
Crystal: "They're not gonna be Christmas gifts, but we do have a long list of family members that have said, 'I need a bobblehead,' and it's a lot cheaper to send them a bobblehead than to fly them in to pick up their own....[We've] got a long list to send out, so I'll be shipping all next week. We'll keep one for each of the kids and one for us."
As for final thoughts, I asked Boudreau why he hates looking at his photo, which seems unfortunate for such a public figure. "I just don't like looking at myself," he said. "Hate it. Because I'm getting older, and when you were an athlete and you were always in good shape, you thought, 'Ok." And then you get older, and you put on a little weight, and you lose your hair. I just don't look looking at myself."
And Jonathan suggested to Crystal that the bobblehead could be like Boudreau's Mini-Me; "I wouldn't say it's a Mini Me," she said, "but, you know, if he ever gets difficult, I'll just say he gets replaced."

Steinz, Mike Green got a lamborghini and his teammates are calling him Lambo-Greenie. I must know if it's lime green. If so, that makes two DC star athletes with lime green lambos (Laron Landry is the other). You should be all over this one.

Gabby needs one of those dolls with a pull chord on his back that spouts random "Boudreauisms."
