Clinton Portis, Grown and Classy

Yesterday at Redskins Park, Clinton Portis showed up wearing rainbow sneakers, neon orange sweatpants and a bright purple sweatshirt. "The Skittles Outfit," one media member dubbed it. He escaped before I could take photos, preventing a repeat of that time he had the striped socks and all-red ensemble after the Detroit game.

Anyhow, turns out that, like Caron Butler, Portis is an official fashion model, with the photo shoot to prove it. "See, I don't like to be part of trends, I like to set trends," he said to the L-R-G cameras, after telling them his house is known as "Portis Place." (Many thanks to The Redskins Blog for the info.)

Which reminds me, yesterday the media asked Jason Campbell about Portis's recent performances. "We don't see Clinton Monday through Friday," the quarterback said. "He's in the meeting room with us and that's it. Then he shows up for the game on Sunday, but he's able to do what he's supposed to do, because he knows all his assignments. He's playing TOUGH....He's playing with a hurt knee and a banged-up body and he's still getting 100-plus yards. It's big. And he's still in there blocking his butt off. He's always asking the linemen, 'Hey, you need help here? I'm coming.' He say stuff like that....We always try to tell the young guys, the rookies and stuff, here's a guy that doesn't even practice, he comes to the games and knows what he's doing, so we know y'all can do it."

All that, plus he can rock a hoodie like you wouldn't believe.

Also, he's a hungry, hungry man.

I sorta feel like CP and Bill Belichick could get together and compare styles sometime. CP in the hoodie is always classic.

At least the record of CP's team matches his individual swag.

What we really need -- what the WORLD needs -- are the old Charles Mann Hungry Man commercials.
