Skins: Underdogs to Ravens?

Now looking like they'll be favored over the Skins. (By Mark Finkenstaedt - TWP)

My weeks-long question--would the Washington Redskins end the season as the point-spread favorites in their final 11 games--was decisively answered last week, when the Redskins were home underdogs to the Cowboys, and couldn't cover the spread.

And with that, they're officially in a Vegas free-fall. For the first time since winning at Dallas, the Redskins are out of the Top 10 put together by the Las Vegas Sports Consultants oddsmakers. As of today, they'd be underdogs for their next two games after Seattle: home to the Giants, and at Baltimore. I don't think they're gonna make it to 13-3 after all.

Continuing this weird pattern, the Skins are now 1-3 against Vegas's four highest rated teams, 1-1 against Vegas's four lowest rated teams, and 4-0 against everyone else. Point spreads aside, they're 1-0 as road favorites, 3-2 as home favorites, 0-1 as home underdogs and 2-1 as road underdogs.

Still, if they win every time they're favored down the stretch, they would almost certainly finish 10-6, possibly allowing me to visit either Minnesota or Wisconsin for the first time in my life.

Some more rankings from around the Web: ESPN.com says Washington is 9th, the Football Outsiders' math stuff says Washington is 11th, Sportsline says Washington is 14th, SI.com says Washington is 11th, the Sporting News says Washington is 12th, and Yahoo! and Fox Sports both keep the faith at 7th.
