Love at FedEx Field

So maybe this sort of thing happens all the time, fans bringing their engagement bliss to the site of sporting events, but it's still new to me. First there were those two crazy kids who shot their invitation photos on the ice at Kettler and then had a Caps-themed reception, and now we meet Drew and Kim, two more crazy kids from Knoxville who got engaged on the sidelines of FedEx Field last weekend.

Drew's mother actually e-mailed me about the happy day, calling the engagement "the most exciting part of the game," although anyone who watched LaRon Landry's final tackle may slightly disagree with that assessment. I'll put the engagement right beneath the final play, right above that field goal return from out of the end zone, and about several miles ahead of the Redskins offense in excitement.

Anyhow, why propose at an NFL football game?

"Well, I wanted something she, or we, wouldn't ever forget," Drew wrote me this morning. "I was going to do it at the [Extreme Skins] tailgate, but then I saw an auction on eBay that included field passes, so I pretty much knew then that's what I wanted to do."

No word on whether Eagles fans in the vicinity began booing. Anyhow, congrats to the happy couple, and here's to "Hail to the Redskins" being played on non-stop loop at the reception.

I saw someone do this in section 412 right after CP scored against the Rams.

I'm stunned that Snyder doesn't charge a fee for impromptu marriage proposals.

So for these sorts of things, is it a bad omen or a ring-takeback if the team loses?
