Joe Gibbs Seems Happy

Joe Gibbs's facial expressions for much of 2008 were pure car wreck. He saw things metaphorically flipping trunk over hood, or spinning wildly, and he feared for the safety of all the passengers. Metaphorically. I just mean he didn't look very happy.

Which is why it's so odd that when Gibbs actually flipped a car, he looked like Alex Ovechkin upon seeing random dancing females. "Hee hee hee hee hee hee," he told a TV reporter after wrecking his sponsor's car during some racin' in Hampton.

(That would be the "Whoopee we're all gonna die" Gibbs giggle, as Tom Boswell once called it.)

"I just, I was out of control, hee hee hee," Gibbs added, post-wreck. "I got up there a couple of times and I thought, 'I got to get in deeper.' "

"Yeah, he got in deeper," the flipped sponsor said. "He got behind me, on top of me, under me."

And yeah, that's the first time anybody's ever said those three things about Joe Gibbs.

(See the video at WVEC; regards to Hogs Haven.)

Gibbs was out of control, flips the other guy, and Gibbs is declared the winner. Sucks to be that other guy.

"And yeah, that's the first time anybody's ever said those three things about Joe Gibbs."

Well, I hope Pat has said that about him on occasion, at least to herself if not out loud.

Which brings something to mind I've often wondered about. Joe Gibbs mentions Pat a lot in press conferences. Her name shows up in stories, but always as "his wife, Pat" and nothing more. We've seen feature stories on Spurrier's wife, Zorn's wife, hell probably even Norv's wife (although she must be even more bland than he is because honestly I can't remember) but for all the years Gibbs was here there has been absolutely nothing about Pat. Okay, so maybe she's a private person, all about the family and all. Nothing wrong with that. But has a picture of Pat Gibbs ever been printed in the Post? I've never seen one. Anyone know what she looks like?
