M & M's Believe the Skins Wear Maroon

So M&M's is running this promotion where you can order the little discs of sweet chocolate goodness adorned with the logo of your favorite NFL team. Because there's no better way to express your team loyalty than by eating your team's logo.

Anyhow, I was noodling around on the site, trying to think of appropriate jokes about Redskins chocolates. The M stands for "Medium," suggested a wise editor. "Melts in the second half of the season, not in the first," said editor also offered. Or how about "Melts in your mouth, not in your hand, unless you stand prone in the pocket holding them in your hand for like 15 seconds every time. Then they melt in your hand." Or maybe "There's an M in Everyone, except for Carlos Rogers, who evidently dropped his."

But then I found something even better. If you set up your Redskins-themed candies, and then go look at the product details, this is what you'll find: "(1) Printable - Bulk White, (1) Printable - Bulk Gold , (1) Finished Lentil Bulk Maroon."

Um, whoops? Did Jim Zorn get an offseason job with Mars? Are we having some serious branding issues this year or what?

Burgundy, candy people, burgundy. Not Maroon and black. Not maroon and gold. Burgundy. Thanks.

So if the green M & M's make you horny, do the maroon ones make you Zorny?

This franchise is just in lose mode.

Of the perpetual variety.

Burgundy and gold, baby. Thanks for asking.

I don't know if M&M's best represent the Redskins. I think a different Mars Company candy would work better:

Not drafting anyone for a while? Grab a Snickers.

Perhaps Mars had some maroon University of Minnesota M&Ms left over and simply rebranded them.
