Ovechkin on the Pens, the Day After

Below, find Alex Ovechkin's fairly bland comments about the Caps' win over the Pens, said to the television cameras during this morning's optional skate. Of much greater interest: the fact that Ovechkin and Official Caps Beat Writer Tarik El-Bashir are wearing stunningly similar hats.

On the win: It was big game for us, especially after when we lost three in a row, so it was a good comeback for us, and for our team. We played great I think last night, we played solid all three periods and I think we deserve the win

On his previous few games: You know, sometimes you play good, sometimes you feel maybe not well, and you feel not good shape, and everything can happen with you. You can play well, sometimes you have some mistakes, sometimes you're just, you know, a little sleepy. And I'm happy that game with that game we played last night, all around really well

On Boston: Well yeah, this three games before all-star break, it's gonna be very important for us. We want to get there, and we know it's gonna be tough, but I think we're ready for it.

On confidence against the Pens: I think we just don't give them any chances during the game. You know, we played solid defensively against Malkin and Crosby and we used our chances. Not all of them, but we used them.

On whether he's relieved that game's over: You know, it was yesterday, so I just want to forget this game. Yeah, it was pretty exciting game, emotional game, but soon we play against another good team and right now I just want to think about getting home and relaxing before Boston.

On whether he heard the boos: Yup. Feel pretty good. Why it have to bother me? I like it.

On why he likes it: Because I like it.

It looks like Ovechkin is wearing a knit hat on top of a baseball hat. Why is everything he does so cool?

Actually, they sell knit caps now with a small lip. No big. Not that big of a deal....

I love the fact that he thrives on the boos.

OV is the man

I saw a full body shot of Ovie in this hat. He looks like he is about to go play (equestrian) polo.
