Ravens Day in Schools: Save Our Children
Sports producer Lindsay Applebaum:
Simply put, this is outrageous.
A Baltimore-based Redskins fan, Better Off Jed, writes:
Also, today is <cringe>Ravens Day </cringe> at my daughter's school, so they are supposed to wear Ravens gear. I actually have a Ravens shirt that was a freebie that my wife insisted that I give it to my daughter to wear today. I should've insisted that she wear a Redskins shirt instead. I think I need to go out and get new Redskins gear for the entire family. My son on the other hand, chose to wear a Redskins jersey today. Go figure.
I know, I know...I'm overreacting about this whole thing...blah...blah...blah. For some reason, I do think it is important to have and maintain a consistent identity, even if it's just for sports.
I say Jed's not overreacting at all. What are we letting schools teach our children (and by our, I most definitely mean your)?
What happened to secularity? Separation of church and state, people. Is nothing sacred anymore?
Parents, take a stand. Teach your children that they have the freedom to support whichever team they choose you choose for them, even if that team isn't local, or isn't in the playoffs, or has questionable ownership/management/morals/motives.

Just cop the "What's Our Names?" shirt and enjoy the game.

I agree. If I have the pleasure, my kids won't have a choice -- they'll be Redskins fans.
I'm tired of these fake 'skins fans rooting for the rat-birds. Quit drinking the kool-a...er...Natty Boh!

I would have a problem with it... but he lives in Baltimore. What does he expect? If you don't want to deal with Ravens stuff, then he should have resisted the temptation of buying a $30 house up there.
