Roy Hibbert Discusses the Hoyas

With Roy Hibbert in town to play the Wiz last night (four minutes, four points), I had a chance to ask him a few quick questions about the Georgetown Hoyas, who could fall as low as they've ever been when the latest Atlantic 11 poll is released this afternoon. Hibbert was sorting through a sizable ticket allotment while we chatted.

Where you here [Saturday]?

No, I wasn't able to watch the game. I saw a minute of it before we left to come over here....I'm sorry they lost but they're gonna bounce back.

What do you think's going on?

Just going through a little rough patch right now. I mean, the guys will figure it out. They're a young team.

If they keep working at it, maybe.

(At this point, the words "NIT" came from the direction of Troy Murphy's locker. Also, the words "Big East Tournament.")

No, but, anything can happen. They could win the Big East Tournament.

Do you have any theories about what's [not working]?

Sometimes you have high highs and low lows. Right now they're having a low, low, REAL low period right now, but they'll get through it.

Do you talk to those guys still?

I talk to a couple of the guys, but right now they probably don't want to hear from anybody. They're going through their problems. They'll fix it. I talk to Greg every now and then.

Are you surprised that it's gone this way?

I mean, the Big East is a real tough, tough conference. You play top 25 teams all the time, and the guys that are in the middle are just as good as the guys at the top. And the guys at the bottom, they need their wins. Every team is good in the Big East.

When you were there it seemed like you guys always got better as the season went on, in February and March.

That's what they said. But they're a real young team. Eventually, they'll figure it out.

(And one more question, courtesy ESPN 980)

Do you have any advice for those guys?

Just keeping running point to the strong side and things will happen. They know what I'm talking about.

If Monroe would step out and hit a three every now and again...
