Boze Hits the Postseason

(By Jonathan Newton - TWP)

With Morgan State poised to open its MEAC tournament tonight and validate its win at Maryland by going to the big mazurka, this is apparently the day to write in praise of Todd Bozeman. Rick Maese in the Baltimore Sun lays out the case for keeping Bozeman in Baltimore, and suggests that Morgan administrators may already have lost their chance by failing to sign Boze to an extension.

"And because the school failed to address this in a timely fashion," Maese writes, "you can bet it'll cost Morgan a lot more. At best, it will have to shell out more money than it would have a year ago. At worst, the Bears lose their coach."

And actual Morgan State fan Stet Sports says that Bozeman is the biggest name in local mid-major basketball, that Bozeman is the biggest name nationally in black college basketball, and that "Bozeman's preference is to stay in Charm City and turn Morgan into the Gonzaga of the East Coast." I thought George Mason already called dibs. I think "St. Mary's of the East" is available.

(Six DMV teams, incidentally, are represented in the latest Mid-Major Top 25: VCU, American, George Mason, Old Dominion, Radford and Morgan.)

Anyhow, this is all a great time to go back to Bozeman's blog and get his take on the postseason.

Da Regular Season Ends Da Tourney B Gins!

Uh, make that Turn E B Gins, and I'm sold.

I tell you what....there is nothing like a packed arena, gym, play ground or court during a basketball game! If that doesn't get your juices flowing you need a transplant!

A juice transplant, presumably?

That waitin around kills me...i wish we could walk into the arena and jump it up right off da muscle! That's a B more term ya'll chill wit the confused look! :) lol

It was a good game and we shot the blood out the ball in the first half.

Well, that ball will no longer get its juices flowing, anyhow. I want to blog the blood out my laptop.

Back to back regular season champs, #1 seed and back to back 20 win seasons. Now gotta get right for the conference tournament.

Funny, that's the EXACT same thing Roy Williams said in his pre-ACC press conference.

Packed dayz always...but you gotta luv it's March Madness! Best time of the year! Hey...turn those lights out! :)

Let's see, control-C, control-V, hit send......yup, that was a great Twitter post. Thanks, Boze.

Patsos often uses the Off Da Muscle term as well, except its usually in reference to his heart rate.

Why oh why won't Morgan sign this man up???!!!

Boze is great for basketball, BMore & the Bog, but Off the Muscle is a Baltimore term? Please. Check Northeast Groovers circa the mid 90's for evidence.

George Mason is not the Gonzaga of the east. Gonzaga aspires to be the George Mason of the West.

George Mason is not the Gonzaga of the east. Gonzaga has turned into a consistent contender that recruits well with an equally consistent following. Mason is still Mason.

Anthony Grant > Todd Bozeman

Not even a question

You should profile the real "biggest name nationally in black college basketball"?

Bozeman's success just samcks Howard University in the face more than anything. Though Howard beat Oregon St. this year, other schools in the MEAC are stepping up. hampton has a nice squad if their coach does not drive them all away. What is Howard doing? Bozeman is yet another one in their own backyard they let get away. Howard, when Dickerson is fired from Tulane I suggest you swoop in and pick him up immediately.

I assume the phrase "black college basketball" refers to historical black colleges and universities, not colleges whose coaches just happen to be black.

Wasn't Frank Brickowski the Big Mazurka?
