Caps Fans Honor Don Cherry

Enough of all those items about Caps fans antagonizing Pens fans, and Pens fans responding with saliva-spewing vitriol. I've neglected the items about Caps fans antagonizing Don Cherry!

Here's a shrine from a recent game that was built by the Caps Fan Club. It's kind of hard to see, but the bobblehead's knot has apparently been re-tied into a noose. See, that's a lot worse than passing out pacifiers, right? Nooses kill people, and can break bobbleheads. Can't wait for the Cherryites to bombard me with outrage.

Also, if there was ever any doubt that you can succeed in the sports media business merely by saying outrageously stupid and/or offensive things with great spirit, read about Cherry's massive popularity north of the border.

And how does he know he isn't one of those crazy old men who makes no sense anymore?

"I know it when I talk to hockey guys," Cherry said. "When I go out and watch minor midget hockey, when I talk to the Zamboni drivers, the guys in the rink, the real people, they sound just like me.

Someone should take that message to journalism schools. You want to hit it big, kid? Try to sound like a Zamboni driver.
