How Gary Williams Motivated the Terps

"I was surprised when Coach Williams brought up the idea that we had to win two," Dave Neal told John Feinstein on Thursday night. "He had T-shirts made up for us that were in our lockers after practice on Monday. I guess we knew then he was serious."
And I guess we know now what Gary thinks of his NCAA tourney chances.

UPDATE: The team that had come here to win two had won two. "I've got T-shirts back at the hotel that say, 'win three,' " Williams said. (Via Feinstein)

Maryland was not on the bubble when they won the ACC championship in 04. We closed the season with a win at top 25 NC State then a blowout win at home vs UVA to secure our bid. The entire ACC tourney run was done with house money.

It would have been hilarious if after we beat Wake, he put another win 2 shirt on each player's chair. I'm also having flashbacks to the John Gilchrist run a few years back. On the bubble to ACC Champion!
