Carlos Rogers on Jason Campbell (Updated)
The Redskins cornerbacks have quite the LeBron thing going this week; DeAngelo Hall hung out with the Cavs icon last night, and Carlos Rogers and Fred Smoot are both at tonight's game, in separate sections. (Rogers is on the 'wood, and Smoot isn't.)
I'm hoping to track Smoot down later, but I did chat with Rogers for a few minutes about his longtime Auburn buddy Jason Campbell, who was sort of in the news today a little bit.
"That's my boy," Rogers said of Campbell. "I mean, Jason's a good quarterback, a smart guy, and he's been learning difference offenses since I've known him in college. You can tell he's intelligent because he keeps picking up those different systems. No quarterback going through different offenses like that can get familiar in one system. How do you expect him to be good? We've got more problems to worry about than just the quarterback."
Obviously there are strong feelings on both sides of this one, but that's pretty much the argument in favor of sticking with Campbell for another year.
UPDATE: Also at the game: Kareem Moore, Fred Davis, Byron Westbrook, LaVar Arrington, Darnell Dockett, Ted Leonsis, Alex Ovechkin, Tony Reali, etc.
UPDATE: Fred Davis on Jason Campbell: "I think he wants to win. He needs another chance to prove himself. Now that we've got the right tools, it's all on his plate and he's ready to step up and be a big-time player."
