More Caps Metal Bands, and More

* D.C. United players hang out with the Redskins at the White House! Three of these men kick things for a living, and the fourth pushes people. I'll let you guess which is which. (Behind the Badge)

* The metal-bands-loving-Caps thing is now a genuine trend, with at least six metal bands rocking the red, or otherwise supporting the team. Perhaps the most ardent of these is Misery Index, an "extreme metal/punk" band whose lead singer guitarist wears a variety of Hershey Bears and Caps jerseys on the road to provoke rival fans. (Express Night Out) (Also, remember when all those publications put together all those misery indexes for sports town, and D.C. always fares poorly? Yeah, different kind of misery index.)

* "A man who grabbed a Dallas Cowboys flag from a car in downtown Washington was punched in the face yesterday, startling passersby in an area that is home to lawyers, lobbyists and expensive shops and restaurants." Presumably poor people wouldn't have been surprised? (WaPo, via NBC Washington, which is bizarre, huh?)

* Jim Larranaga records a PSA on the fundamentals of book care. Next week, he'll talk to youngsters about the importance of flossing between meals. (George Mason Basketball Blog)

* Yes, I already noted that Dr. FU was at Nats Park, wearing team-issued Tim Redding and Brandon Watson jerseys on Monday. But linking to this much-better photo allows me to also note that another cover band was upstairs. That was Soda Road. They were rocking, among others, Chris Snelling and Emiliano Fruto jerseys. This is how they're promoting their team: recycling jerseys of cast-off pitchers. Cheap is no longer a sufficient adjective. (Federal Baseball)

* Ovechkin: "The Stanley Cup is everything in the NHL, and the playoffs are a test--are you or are you not a man?" I think Mike Gundy would be an appropriate person to answer that question. (Japers' Rink)

* What exactly do you do with a "16 Wins to the Cup" Washington Capitals shirt if the Washington Capitals don't get 16 wins? (Caps team store)

Heck, what do you do with the shirt after they've won one game? Sharpie?
