Morning Bog: Smoke 'Em If You've Got 'Em
Intern Jake chimes in with some morning links.
There are certain early-season signs that your team might not be doing so well. The fact that the opposing team manages to beat you as their players are enjoying a nice, soothing menthol is one of those signs. Of course, an 0-7 record is another. Anyhow, it turns out the Phillies were paying tribute to Harry Kalas via tobacco. (Player Hater's Ball)
Speaking of Kalas, he narrated some of the greatest games in Redskins history for NFL Films, including Chris Cooley's three touchdown game against Dallas in 2005. The Official Redskins Blog has not only included Kalas' audio from that game, but also a wonderful NFL tribute to the Hall-of-Fame announcer as well. (Redskins Blog)
It was hard to distinguish between Nats fans and Phillies phans yesterday (although, up close, it was easy to tell the Washingtonians apart on account of that distinct "kicked-puppy" look). Sprinkle a few Capitals enthusiasts in there, and the sea of red made it look like the Nationals had quite the following. And for that fleeting a moment, Ted Lerner was a very happy man. (On Frozen Blog)
Just in case NFL fans were wondering just how pervasive dog fighting actually is among professional football players, Redskins TE Chris Cooley has decided to throw his hat into the ring, uploading a new video of the most adorable little attack dog the world has ever seen. Michael Vick isn't going to get his hands on little, floppy eared Taylor. On a separate note, doesn't Dan Snyder pay Chris Cooley enough to hire some 14-year-old kid to mow his lawn? (Cooley Zone)
No one really thought that the Wizards would hold on to a 13-point lead with only six minutes left in the game last night, did they? At least they were consistent at home. (Bullets Forever)
