Varly Reps Mother Russia

Like his Russian teammates, Simeon Varlamov has his little Russian quirks. Bright yellow laces on his skates, for example. And these twin logos on the back of his helmet.

On the left, the Russian flag. On the right, the logo for Yaroslavl Lokomotiv, his former club. And an awesome logo it is, no?

Who started the yellow skate laces fad anyhow? I know Fedorov has them. And so does Ovi. But they're the only 2 Russians on the Caps I've seen with them. Do folks on other teams do it also?
