Welcome to Twitter, Donald Brashear
Donald Brashear has been Tweeting for a while, but no one much seemed to notice.
"Gooood morning every body, I just woke up in Atlanta. On ou way go Starbucks for a quad venti white mocha," he wrote on one occasion.
No big deal, right? Just an athlete getting in touch with his fans.
"Hi friends! Or good morning should I say. It's playoff time!!!!!" he wrote another time.
Hyping up the 400-level types, right?
"im getting ready for my first playoff game against the Rangers," he wrote this morning, on the same day when Bruce Boudreau twice declined to address any changes to his lineup. So, Boudreau's reaction?
"Oh," he said. "Ok. I'm glad Donald makes those decisions."
Not upset that his players are Tweeting about the lineups?
"I don't even know what Twittering is, so I don't think I'd be upset," he said.
Boudreau neither confirmed nor denied Brashear's addition to tonight's lineup after two healthy scratches, but he did talk about what the forward brings hypothetically.
"Energy," Boudreau said. "Tenacity. Fore-checking. And plus Donald's great in the room, he's been with the guys for a long time, so it would just be something that's a team chemistry-type thing. You know, he played regular. I don't think I sat him out 'til he got hurt. Who knows if anything rattles [Lundqvist], but it's just an option that we have, that we're lucky to have."

What exactly do you mean by a 400 level type?

@trunkenmath, I was honestly just trying to find another word for "fan." Didn't mean anything in particular.

I see now. It came off as if you meant Donald was playing to the "groundlings" which would be a bit of a slight on the usual VC clientele. Especially since the best seats are 400 level center ice!

Looks like Brash promptly closed his account after your discovery of it. Pity.

Well, +1 to Brash I guess. Not sure that he was the difference, but maybe that locker room stuff helped some of the other guys out. Semin had a great game; Donald did take to speaking Russian, right? Does he speak Swedish, too?
