Morning Bog: Batista at the Nats Game

After rushing down to Nats Ark sometime in the hazy post-rain-delay hours Saturday night, I took this photo of WWE superstar Batista with family. I'll write more about that later, but you'll notice he's wearing Nats gear, as are his wife and son. Tell me things aren't trending upward for this franchise.

More morning links, with help from Max Wasserman.

* Albert Haynesworth is so rich he owns a 77-foot, 4-bed 4-bath $4-million yacht with "stark-white, ostrich-skin furniture." (Mister Irrelevant)

* Washington finally has a championship winning team; the Washington Kastles won the World Team Tennis title last night at Parking-Lot-Where-The-Old-Convention-Center-Used-To-Be Stadium, beating the Springfield Lasers, 23-20. Ex-Ovechkin girlfriend Olga Puchkova saved three championship points in her final-event singles match against the league's Female MVP before rallying to clinch the championship for D.C., and some dude made an unauthorized marriage proposal in the stands that delayed the ending. (Post)

* On Friday, the Kastles' Leander Paes--who won all four of his doubles matches in the playoffs--was named the World TeamTennis 2009 Male MVP, joining Ovechkin, Emilio, Christian Gomez, Marco Etcheverry and Joe Theismann on the list or recent MVPs. That honor is by far the biggest in Paes' career--aside from his five Grand Slam men's doubles titles, and his four GS mixed doubles titles, and his 35 other doubles titles, and his 1996 Olympic bronze medal. (WTT)

* Serena Williams has yet to tweet about her teammates success. (@SerenaJWilliams)

* Manny Acta came to the Park Sunday morning, but did not comment to the media. And a blogger rudely points out that the team is hiring a mailroom manager whose duties include "assisting in the initiation of new employees by coordinating the purchase and/or allocation of office equipment (i.e. computers, phones, etc.); order business cards and name tags, and any other needs related to the initiation of a new employee." (All Nats ATT, Nationals Enquirer, Baseball Jobs)

* Dmitri Young goes out in style, sending a text to Chico that says he's "preparing myself 4 next year sumwhere." (Nats Journal)

* Here's a petition urging the Nats to sign Strasburg. There are 45 signatures as of this writing. (Sign Stephen Strasburg)

* Randy Foye today is...Caron Butler four years ago? (Bullets Forever)

* Alex Ovechkin's new Upper Deck card looks like "Tony Stark is targeting Ovie's kidneys with wrist missiles." (Japers, Puck Daddy)

* Ovie on Malkin trying to improve his English: "If someone believes that Hart Trophy is given only for communicating with the journalists, they can even start learning Chinese if they think it would help." (Alex Ovetjkin)

* The Mayor, Jason Reid, gets one of those massive head shots atop our Redskins blog. (Redskins Insider)

* And Gene Wang launches his new WaPo fantasy football blog. (Fantasy Check)

* Chris Cooley is still signing things "Dallas Sucks." (via Extreme Skins)

* Colt Brennan says you "can't ask for a better franchise" than the Redskins. (Sporting News Radio)

* Sidney Crosby and Tony Romo Christmas ornaments. (Capitals Kremlin)

* Video from Redskin receiver Trent Shelton's Back 2 Camp party. (Hogs Haven)

* And Thom Loverro gets a radio show on ESPN 980, directly up against the WaPo's Mike Wise on 106.7 The Fan. (Cheap Seats Daily)

How often do people guarantee a championship and it actually happens?

Dave "Batista" is not married, so that is not his wife. He was a long time ago, but not anymore. I can't see her face all that well, but I believe that is WWE talent "Melina" Perez.

I thought this was going to be about a visit by Washington Nationals minor-leaguer Jose Batista:

No mention of Teddy winning the Presidents' Race. If not for Kearns that was biggest Nats story. It took out of the box thinking and he should not have been disqualifyed.

js4rester you are incorrect. That is Batista's ex-wife and they are back together.
