Devin Thomas Has a Wheelchair and a Grill

The wide receiver-defensive back wars continued Tuesday afternoon, as Devin Thomas brought a wheelchair outside Redskins Park and waited while Fred Smoot addressed the media.

(Note: This was all in jest. Please do not use this item as an excuse to malign the football prospects of Devin Thomas. Thank you.)

"i refuse to sit in it," Smoot said. "I'm not that old. So I ain't going to do that."

"Come on, old man," Thomas said. "We had a lot of hard work today. Me, Santana, Malcolm Kelly, all the receivers, Randle El, hurt them pretty bad today," Thomas continued, patting the chair. "I think it's time for him to take a seat."

"Hey Smoot!" he shouted out, while Smoot was busy with interviews. "Aw, he busy right now."

"I'm not getting in that wheelchair," Smoot said after he finished. "I'm able to walk. You get in a wheelchair when you ain't able."

I told him what Thomas said about the receivers working him in practice.

"You listen to that idiot?" Smoot asked. "Are you serious? This guy could leave a practice with no catches and he'll still swear he just worked us to death. Do not listen to the guy."

(Of course, I said "huh?" about three times during this exchange, leading Smoot to complain, "I really have to get your ebonics up there.")

Also, I should note that Thomas was wearing a shiny grill on his lower teeth during this entire episode. He said he also wore the grill during practice.

"Man, I was just trying to shine out here, make plays, that's why I've got it in," he told some of the TV folks. "Let the DBs know where I'm at. I told them I was gonna shine on them, so I had to bring it out today."

One of the TV folks asked for the number of carots; "I can't give it away. I might make some females jealous," Thomas said.

(If you want a football quote, here's what Thomas said about the Patriots game: "It's huge. It's time for our first-team offense to get out there and make plays. So hopefully we'll be out there for a while." See, the wheelchair quotes were better.)

(Thanks to Rick Maese for some of these quotes.)

Hey, I like Smootisms as much as the next guy and the ebonics quote is classic, but perhaps we could focus on Rocky or Coach Janky for a week or two? Come on Bog, a Smootless week. Can you do it?
