Flip Saunders and Vinny Cerrato on Each Other
I've written before about how Vinny Cerrato and Flip Saunders are longtime friends and confidants from their days as assistants at the University of Minnesota. Well, Lindsay Czarniak got the two men to break bread together, leading to one of the better quotes I've ever seen from an NFL GM.
"What's a fishburger?" Cerrato asked the waitress.
Striped bass, was the answer.
While Saunders talked about his ex-roommate, Tony Dungy, Cerrato reminisced about Flip's exploits on the court.
"Flip was the point guard and their warmup was what everybody wanted to watch," Cerrato said. "Because they did the Harlem Globertrotters warmup, and Flip was the guy out there with like three balls."
Saunders again described how he used Cerrato as a sounding board during his flirtation with the Wizards, with the Redskins official giving advice "about the media, good guys, bad guys, where to live." Man, would I like to see Cerrato's "Bad Guys" list. I forget, does the NFL Network cover the Wizards? Anyhow, Saunders has expressed an interest in watching defensive back drills, while Cerrato has visited a Wizards workout, and the two men said they'll compare notes.
"You can learn a lot from each other, both good and bad," Saunders said.
As to the inevitable question of which team will win a title first, "I hope both," Cerrato said. "I hope it's like Pittsburgh."
"Well, I hope it's you, because your season's before ours," said the quick-witted Saunders. "From my perspective, I think it's about time these other teams stop going to the White House. Some teams in D.C. need to start going to the White House."

Yeah, I think Cerrato could be a great acting coach for Flip. Two words: Kindergarten Ninja

So the nats are 9-10 since the all-star break. Since Manny Acta went bye bye and we got Morgan in CF.
Anything? Any Nat's Fail on that?

Hopefully Flip doesn't learn too much from Vinny. I want that fishburger.
