The Nationals Fun Bunch

(Photos by Gene J. Puskar - AP)

With the Nats among the hottest teams in baseball, that means a few things.

1) I can skip going to Redskins practice in favor of a day game at Nats Ark.

2) I can ask players about their victory celebrations. Like this one, above, which the Nats outfield trio of Willie Harris, Nyjer Morgan and Elijah Dukes has used after several recent wins. Fun Bunch-like, mildly, right?

In truth, the celebration pre-dates Morgan; "That ain't nothing new," Harris said. "We were doing that last year, me, Lasto and Dukes. We've been doing that."

"It's just something I guess everybody does now," Morgan said. "You just kind of do it."

And how do they coordinate?

"Eye contact," Morgan said. "We know what's going on."

And, most importantly, was it inspired by the Fun Bunch? Yeah. Not really.

"Not a Redskins fan," Morgan said. "Diehard 'Niner, dude."

"Let me tell you something, I don't like football," Harris said. "Not pro football. I like college football....I feel like they're playing for something. All those college kids out there playing hard, they're trying to get to the next level."

Either way, it works.

I had the same thought -- submitted it to the Natstown caption contest.

Dukes is the least fun. Nice vertical on the left there :)

Like the fun bunch, but Harris... You don't like pro football because you don't think they're playing for something? Wouldn't that apply to all pro athletes, yourself included then?

Ha..."Lasto"

As in, "trade for Milledge and your team will finish Lasto"

Out of curiosity, do the, um...white players participate when they are out there?
