Training Camp Photos
Because I've been to too many Redskins training camps, some of the background scenery just started to blend in: the people in Backstrom and Varlamov jerseys, the guy with the Gilbert Arenas Arizona jersey, the kids playing seven-on-seven football into crowds of onlookers, the Official Hamburger stands and all the rest. Here's an attempt to show a few quick sights.
The woman above asked whether this photo would be going on a blog. As if she didn't know.
Here, you can see the trade-offs of being The Official Redskins Blogger. On the one hand, you get tremendous access. On the other hand, Devin Thomas will sometimes hand you his pads when he goes to sign autographs. Also, Trevor Matich: it's like 400 degrees outside. Black sweats and a black tee? Well played.
Speaking of official, there's your Official Hamburger. And your Official Weird Lifelike Tackling Dummy That No One Actually Uses. I keep hoping that Jim Zorn incorporates this man into drills and gives him a pleasing name, like Clete. But he just sits there, usually.
This strikes me as a regular season move. And yes, I'm jealous that he has enough hair to pull this off. Now, if he had shaved the No. 7 into his head, Sports Illustrated would have been interested.
The many interesting hats of Portis fans.
And here's Santana Moss walking out to practice, same as he ever does, by walking over these hurdles. The calendar flips, the hurdles remain. (Photo by Evan Vucci - AP)
