2009-2010 Redskins Odds

Presenting your 2009 Redskins odds, courtesy of Bodog. And before you dismiss this as a freebie post that the Washington Times has already done, let's take a look back at last year's Skins odds. The over-under on wins was 7.5; Washington had eight. The over-under on home wins was 4; Washington had 4. The over-under on Jason Campbell passing yards was 3,300; he had 3,245. The over-under on Santana Moss receiving yards was 950; he had 1,044. The over-under on Antwaan Randle-El receiving yards was 650; he had 593. These are good guesses.

(Yes, I'm ignoring that 9.5 over-under for sacks by both Jason Taylor and Andre Carter.)

Anyhow, the numbers are good enough that I'm coming back with 2009-2010 Redskins odds.

Odds to win the NFC East: 6-1. Slightly better than last year's 13-2 shot. And yet I feel like local optimism has diminished. Odd.

Odds to win the NFC Championship: 14-1. A nice improvement over last year's 18-1 shot. Jim Zorn has said the goal isn't to win the NFC Championship, so I'll pass.

Odds to win Super Bowl XXNDFJDIXKDIX: 34-1. Slightly better than last year's 40-1. Still, I'll pass, thanks.

Regular season wins Over-under is 8. I'm on record predicting a 7-9 finish, so I guess that means I take the under.

Jason Campbell Passing Yards: Over-under is 3,100. That's a downgrade from last season, presumably reflecting the fact that the receivers are better, he's been in the offense longer, and there are no viable options behind him.

Jason Campbell Touchdowns: Over-under is 14.5 Yeah, that's your starting quarterback.

Jason Campbell Interceptions: Over-under is 10.5.

Clinton Portis Rushing Yards: Over-under is 1,250. Same as last year. He's gone over that number in six of his seven NFL seasons. Over over over! His total touchdown figure is over-under 8.5.

Santana Moss Receiving Yards: Over-under is 900. Odds for hamstring injuries not listed. His over-under for touchdowns is 5.5.

Chris Cooley Receiving Yards: Over-under 775. Odds for embarrassing photos posted on the Internet not listed. His over-under for touchdowns is 5.

Albert Haynesworth Sacks: Over-under 6.5. Odds for disabling stomach ailments that prevent him from practicing not listed.

Brian Orakpo Sacks: Over-under 4.5. Take the over and bet the mortgage.

Also, Clinton Portis is 35-1 to win the NFL MVP, Portis is 10-1 to lead the league in rushing yards, Campbell is 65-1 to lead the league in passing yards, Santana Moss is 40-1 to lead the league in rushing receiving yards, Daniel Snyder is 2-1 to lead the league in scalping yards, and Orakpo is 10-1 to win the defensive rookie of the year honors.

Vinny Cerrato actually discussed the last issue Inside the Red Zone last week. He said if Orakpo remains healthy and gets playing time, "I'll be disappointed if he's not the defensive rookie of the year." At 10-1 odds, Cerrato should jump on this.

Odds Campbell is the Skins starting QB in 2010: 10-1. No good college QBs hitting the draft and not many free agents available.

Odds Zorn is the Skins Head Coach in 2010: 60-1. 2009 season starts hot but cools towards the end.

Odds Zorn is the Head Coach for another team in 2010. 40-1. Better chance he is the Offensive Coordinator where he is better suited.

What are the odds we get a new coach next year if we only have 8 wins. That would be a split or push!! And I agree with Dan on Orakpo, bet the farm!

Not to be a jerk, Dan, but I think you meant receiving yards for Moss.

Take the over on all of these and bet the farm and take out a 2nd mortgage on Redskins season wins over 8. Love the skins to win the division as well.

Barno, if you bet the farm how will you keep posting on these blogs once you don't have a place to set up your computer?

I'm all for being optimistic, but seriously, I wouldn't bet the farm on over 8 wins. I've paid too much attention over the last decade of Snyder's iron-fisted rule.

That said, the Orakpo bet does seem like a sure thing...

I'll have even more time as I take the 2010 off from work entirely and vacation with my winnings.
