Ochocinco's D.C. United Jersey

Chad Ochocinco hasn't been shy about his love of soccer, so when the D.C. United marketing folks were sending out the invites for the friendly with Real Madrid at FedEx Field, Ochocinco was on the list. Somewhat unexpectedly, Ochocinco actually replied to the invite through his people, thanking United for the invite but noting that he had training camp just then.
Since he had taken the courtesy to respond, United took the courtesy to send him a personalized Ochocinco kit. Which he then took the courtesy to photograph and send out to his 280,000 Twitter followers today, many of whom are probably not necessarily United season ticket holders. PR Win, D.C. United. Well done, lads.
("Chad Ochocinco has been signed to a short-term contract for D.C. United and will be suiting up to play forward this weekend against Kansas City," a team spokesman said, when I asked about the image.)
That's all well and good, but someone should have told Ochocinco not to follow up with this image, below. Although with a 99 and an 85 up top, it'd be tough to compete with United's sheer numeric strength.
UPDATE: After I Tweeted this story, Ochocinco wrote back: "sign me up for a try out with the team please." United PR man wrote Ochocinco back that he could help; "make it happen," Ochocinco replied. Man, I love the Internet.

MLS fines are much lower, and they let a lot more go in terms of celebrations. It could be the perfect platform for Ochocinco to express himself more fully.

He would definitely provide speed the team is lacking. His strength will also be an asset. MLS hasn't had that many good goal celebrations recently. I'm sure he would raise the bar and make international news.

At least he wouldn't have to pay a section of people to jump into the stands should he score.
