Welcome to D.C., Levi Jones

So how about Levi Jones, huh? He comes in at the second-most important offensive position, and suddenly the Redskins have their highest-scoring output of the season, and their biggest margin-of-victory in the Zorn Era.

"A great pick-up for us," London Fletcher said of Jones.

Observations, both stupid and serious.

Stupid: First post-game interview scrum of the year, and Jones shows up with a white Nats cap. Loved it. Marko Mitchell wears Nats caps virtually every week, but he always says it's because of color coordination. I asked Jones why he went Nats.

"That's what they had at Lids that looked good," he said.

Serious: Jones has longstanding ties with several members of the Skins. For example, when Jones was at Arizona State and Andre Carter was at Cal, they used to battle on the field.

"Levi's a great player, he's always been great," Carter said. "He's solid, great at the run, strong upper body. And with him coming in and contributing, that's definitely been a blessing."

Jones also trained with Ladell Betts at a facility in Arizona when they came out of college and were preparing for the NFL Draft, and Jones said that he's "always known [Betts] to be a hard, downhill runner."

"Give him an inch, he'll take a mile," Jones said of Betts on CSN's "Post Game Live." "He runs hard. He puts his head down and he runs hard. He will get you the yardage if you give him an inch."

Stupid: The massive, bejeweled necklace of a football player Jones was wearing? Yeah, that's him. It's based on an image of him in his stance when he was at ASU. It was really quite striking.

Serious: Jones also told CSN's Kelli Johnson that Joe Bugel has made him revise many of the methods he's used throughout his career.

"I mean, it's definitely been a task," he said. "I mean, I had to switch up a lot of techniques that I've been used to, change a lot of things that kept me in the NFL a long time. But I'm learning 'em, I'm getting 'em down. During the week's not an easy thing, but it worked good and I got the job done."

Dan,

How is a "massive bewejeled necklace of a football player" stupid? I am not sure you gave a goosd rationale for calling it stupid, but hey, it is your blog - which is very interesting and fun by the way!
