Orakpo wouldn't have cut Suisham

At some point, enough is enough with the Shaun Suisham stuff. Even if he made 732 kicks in a row, a lot of people would have cut him after he missed that potential game-clinching 23-yard attempt against the Saints, which is understandable. Just one more item, though, in light of Vinny Cerrato's explanation that "it wasn't fair to the rest of the team to keep [Suisham] on the team."

Brian Orakpo was on the LaVar and Dukes show on 106.7 The Fan Friday afternoon, and when he was asked about the miss, he offered an unexpected defense of Suisham.

"It was a heartbreaker," Orakpo said of the miss. "I mean, we make the kick, worst case scenario and they do score, we [recover the onside kick] and we're done, but he missed it. Suisham, he won some games for us early on in the season. It's just been a rough season, man, that's all I can say. They let him go, I didn't feel like that was necessary, but who am I to judge on anybody letting people go?"

Chad Dukes chimed in, pointing out Suisham's earlier costly miss against the Cowboys and asking why Orakpo didn't think it necessary to cut him.

"Yeah, I see where you're coming from, but it's just one of those seasons where everything's just been going wrong for us and we've just got to hang in there man," Orakpo said. "Like I said, he did win some games for us early on. He won a bunch of games for us when our offense couldn't move the ball. I mean, that's just my opinion, but it is what it is."

In any case, on to the Gano Era.

"I thought Sherm Lewis called an outstanding game. I mean, we punted I think one time."

So It was the play-calling that won the game and not execution? That's "My Uncle Vinny's" problem, its not the person calling the plays that is the problem, its how they are executed. Like, the field goal, was it a bad call because you miss it? No, just not better executed. The Skins have been improving, mainly because the players are feeling the team more, and just executing better, It's not because they brought in another coach for offense.
I fear for this off-season, I fear that it will be another bunch of moves, impulse decisons and thinking that miracles will happen next season. Get a RB, take a good look at Jason Campbell and see if he can stay, Get good O-line men, A good secondary guy to add, get Suh! And, i would bet on Zorn for another year. But this time get players he wants, and not players Synder and "My Uncle Vinny" wants. Why did the Skins start off os bad? So desmotivated? they got 1 player for 100 million! the rest of the players say, ok, you get all the moneym so you play.
Go skins!

Love Orakpo, but I'm glad he's not a personnel guy. Gano played great today.
