Redskins appoint new leader

So say you have a franchise with an unpopular owner, a roundly criticized Executive Vice President of Avoiding the Media, and a seemingly floundering coach. Sort of a leadership problem, all in all.

Say you then decide to bombard people with a mass e-mail, featuring your glowing logo, and trumpeting a "special message:

Today the Washington Redskins appointed a new leader that will strengthen the team with speed, control, spirit and drive. As a passionate fan, we invite you to experience firsthand what this means for the future of the Washington Redskins.

Say that, beneath this tease, you included an embedded video player embossed with your Redskins helmet but no other details, urging people to click and watch. What do you suppose the topic of that video would be?

Congratulations, Redskins fans. Big day for you, I'm sure.

How long until the Audi gets its playcalling privileges removed?

The Redskins brain trust could screw up a one-car funeral.

that car is pretty much the brightest leader the skins have...

So...I guess the Rockville Audi is driving 980 programming, AND joining the play-calling hexagon?

I'll take the intellectual insight of a german engineered luxury automobile over Vinnie Cerrato every day of the week.

What does Redskins mgmt and any recent VW/Audi product have in common?

The Check Engine light is always on.

I didn't get an email blast yet. Maybe since I'm a subscriber to RFADS (Redskin Fans Against Dan Snyder) I'm off their email list now. (G)

FINALLY, I was getting tired of Chevy.

that email had bogus written all over it. thanks for sparing me the little effort it would've taken to click on the link! how is it possible that this organization becomes more out of touch with each passing day?

Love all the jokes, but this is arguably the most appalling thing Redskins leadership has done all year...and that's saying something. To completely manipulate to think that we're finally getting what we want -- new leadership in the form a GM and the ousting of Cerrato -- only to have it be a shameless advertising is about as low as it gets. And of course it comes from a "no reply" email address. Washington Post, please expose this in the form of a proper article.

TYPICAL

Be honest, everyone. Nothing stokes the flames of rabid fandom like a new corporate sponsor! Ted Leonsis could learn a thing or two from these guys -- they GET IT!

Dear Santa,

All I want for Christmas this year..is for Jack Kent Cooke to rise from the dead...and beat the crap out of Dan Snyder for turning this once proud franchise into hie personal marketing machine.

Thank you

Called the local Audi dealer. He's an Eagle's fan. He agreed it was a bad idea to be associated with Snyder. Advised me to go to Audi.com and complain. Told them it was bad business to be associated with people who sue grandmas and take signs from soldiers wives and extort every last $$ from the fans. Let them know.

Goes to show that the in DC, the future of Dan Snyder is more important than the team.

Dear Dan Snyder,
I have hated you from day one, and guess what? I still hate you.

I agree w/ AlfonsoCarnivale: This needs a bit more attention.

The Redskins have truly become a classless organization. That is hard to come to grips with.
