Wale to play Skins-Cowboys game

Any time the Redskins put out a press release about Wale Ovechkin, The Post should probably take note. So here ya go:

When D.C. hometown hip-hop hero Wale performs at halftime of the December 27th Dallas Cowboys-Washington Redskins game, it will be a dream come true for the D.C.-born son of Nigerian immigrants who is well-known as a fervent Redskins fan. After wrapping his tour with Jay-Z, the first D.C. rapper to earn national attention in more than a decade will celebrate his homecoming and his debut album, Attention Deficit, with fans of his beloved football team. At halftime of the game at FedEx Field in Landover, Maryland, he will perform a medley of "Chillin'" and "Pretty Girls," the album's current single, which features Gucci Mane and Weensey of Backyard Band, a legendary go-go- group from the D.C. area.

Wonder if Karl Swanson typed that baby up. Anyhow, you might remember I covered Wale's first trip to a Caps game, and at the time, we also talked burgundy and gold.

"They're heartbreak, man," he said of the Skins. "The reason why on Mondays I sometimes don't even want to get up. I don't want to watch NFL Primetime, which is my favorite show of all time."

See? Famous rappers are just like you! He also discussed ownership, after we met with Ted Leonsis.

"Let's have a sit-down with Dan Snyder next," Wale said as we left. "We need to have an intervention with that dude, like, Stop wasting money!"

Wale has hung around with Colt Brennan, tailgated with the Cooley family, snapped photos with Rocky McIntosh and seen DeAngelo Hall socially, so he should be very much welcomed with open arms.

And, and as seen here, Wale has also encountered random bloggers at FedEx Field in the past. Weird stuff.

If only we could bring dude over to the Wizards, what a wonderful world this would be.

Ditto what Stet said. Wale rooting for LeBron makes me sad. Wale and Arenas would seem to go together like PB and J. After all, even if Wale didn't, he would ball like Arenas - swish!

I have the sudden urge to attend a game at FedEx field for the first time in my life. Dec. 27.

I like wale but maybe the joke is on the redskins.... Go look at his lyrics for Nike Boots.
He says "nobody rep for the skins, they busy cheering them stars".
Kinds sounds like he is making fun of the redskins in my eyes. Anyone else?

ChrisG - I took that as a swipe at all of those fake Cowboys fans (stars on helments) in the area. Their from DC but dont rep the skins, they busy cheering the stars.

I think Wale is calling on D.C. to support its own in that verse, not making fun of the Skins.

Wale looking pretty toasty!!!!...Hope he can remember the lyrics later this month.

He's definitely talking about the frustration of having all those cowboy fans in the area, not hating on the skins at all.

Wale is the biggest "BAMA" in DC and that's the truth.

I would be awesome if he could help pump up the crowd. Despite it possibly being a meaningless game for us, it better been an awesome atmosphere!

Dan, you should take it to the next level and introduce Wale to DC United. Take him to RFK and into the Barra/Eagles. Or maybe he's already experienced it?

At the end of Nike Boots remix he says "rest in peace Sean Taylor."

its curious that he's a big redskins fan yet references the Giants in his song...

Not that I need a reason for Skins-Cowboys, but this will make that game even better. Haven't said this in a while, but nice work Skins front office

It's a rap song pal, not to be taken too literally. When he says I'm a Giant, he isn't referring to the team--he's referring to his status as a rap star. When he says "you're Jeremy Shockey" he is referring to you no longer being a giant. I'm pretty sure most 7 years olds can figure this out...
