Collin Balester's mustache is incredible

I'm not going to Viera this year. If I were, this is what I might write.

* Collin Balester literally already has a top-10 mustache in Major League Baseball, with the potential to go far, far higher, depending on what he chooses to do. I mean, this is within a matter of months, and it's near-legendary already. It would appear that Comcast SportsNet's Kelli Johnson -- who posted this photo on her Twitter account -- might be filing a report on the mustache from Viera. I expect it to win several Emmys.

I'm not kidding, that's a great mustache. John Lannan described it as "out of control," which works as good as anything I've got. Well, "it appears as if he skinned a muskrat and pasted it on his lip" works, too.

* According to Lannan's Twitter account, this is Tyler Clippard, removing his ball from the cup, having recorded a hole-in-one. Lannan's caption:

Tyler Clippard picking the ball from the hold after hole in one par 3 150 yard fourth hole Duran golf course. Insane!

* And finally, I don't have time to transcribe the full thing right now, but Kelli Johnson also has a length one-on-one interview with Kasten on the CSN Washington site. Worth a watch. I'll just quote him here on his optimism:

I think '10 and 11 both are gonna be changes," Kasten said, "a big change I think this year and then I expect another big change next year as our minor leaguers now really mature to the Major Leagues."

Later in the conversation, Johnson asked if the team would be competitive in the NL East.

"Welllllllll, I think so," Kasten said. "The NL East has one team that was the best year, and they've had a very good offseason, I think. I think we've had as good an offseason as any of the teams in the East, though, and it's time for us to take a step forward. Yeah, I think this could be the year we get a lot more competitive."

Balester has said that he is considering dying his mustache green for St. Paddy's Day.

I think he should let it grow out and go for an old school 1910 mustach groomed with a curl at the tips.

So, the best get better, and the N*ts have had just a good an offseason? Hard to believe this guy had anything to do with the Braves of the 90's.

Thx,

Jay!
