Dexter Manley's German Shepherd coat
Since this is turning into a nostalgia sort of day, I've got to work in this story Frank Herzog told during his WTOP tribute on Monday. John Riggins asked him for his best memory from Redskins Park. Not surprisingly, it involved Dexter Manley, but I don't think I would have come up with this story:
"My favorite memory from Redskins Park was Dexter Manley doing a live shot one day for Paul Berry on Channel 7. And it was cold, a winter day. And he was wearing a gorgeous fur coat. And Paul Berry said, 'Well, Dexter, that's a beautiful fur coat.'"And Dexter said, 'Thanks! It's German Shepherd!'
"Course I fell on the ground. The phone calls came in. He had to go on the air the next day and apologize, but it was a great line.
Nexis shows no evidence of this story, but I love it just the same.

I prefer bald eagle fur coats. But only bald eagles from outside America. Obviously.

Ha ha, that's awesome. Yay Dexter. I remember him making Danny White eat the turf in the 1982 playoff game.
