Rogers: "We finally have a good GM"

"As players, if you don't produce, we're out of here," Carlos Rogers said on the day Jim Zorn was let go. "Coaches, the same way."

And executive vice presidents of football operations, the same way, too. Haven't heard many players talk bad about Vinny Cerrato since he's been gone, but Rogers said plenty in a recent conversation with WJFK's Chris Russell:

"There are new coaches, a new GM," Rogers said. "That's one of the biggest things. We finally have a good GM, and Coach Shanahan wants to win."

There are several other interesting pieces in there; Rogers said Greg Blache played favorites with Shawn Springs, said LaRon Landry is probably better as a strong safety, and questioned playing Brian Orakpo at linebacker, saying "When Orakpo was where he should be -- at defensive end -- the linebackers were great."

Rogers also told Russell that Jerry Gray went to Blache and Jim Zorn late in the 2008 season and "told them they were making dumb moves" by benching him and Fred Smoot. But with all the former decision-makers gone, and with the Redskins finally having a good GM and all, Rogers told Russell that he definitely wants to remain in D.C.

We should keep Rogers or trade him for a 3rd rounder. But I doubt he ever establishes any consistency. The guy's a total bust as a high 1st rounder. At least he's better than Pacman and Rolle though. Geez, what a waste of a CB draft 2005 was.

Now we just need a good cornerback!

If we had a "good GM" in 2005, Carlos "hands like feet" Rogers would never have been drafted by the Redskins. I don't see why this guy of all people is bashing Vinny since he gave this horrible player a job.

Carlos Rogers is garbage. Funny seeing him talk this smack, when he's so damn worthless himself.

Carlos Rogers is garbage.

I disagree.

Carlos can do everything except catch.

I think the Skins should bring him back for a couple years, they have too many holes right now on offense.

If Daniels, Portis, Campbell are all going to get a chance to audition for Shanahan and be tendered/kept on the roster, you can't make the argument that Rogers' play has been so bad he just needs to go.

Rogers came back way early from knee surgery and he played very well in 2008.

Cerrato and Blache's attempts to replace him with guys like Byron Westbrook, Justin Tryon and Kevin Barnes were just a joke.

None of these players are anywhere near ready to be a starting corner in the NFL.

Good lord. Please get rid of Carlos. Can't believe this guy has the nerve to be critical of anyone else's abilities.

Of course he wants to stay as its even colder in Canada.

The Skins obviously did not have a good GM. And if there was a trial Carlos would be Exhibit A.
Want to throw up in your mouth, go back and look at all the studs drafted after him.

I can't believe this guy is talking. I have been keeping track of his interception drops and i have recorded and i'm not kidding 27 dropped interceptions in his career. If he had caught half those he would have possibly turned games around and who knows how many of those games we lost. His game is crap let him go screw up somebody elses team.

I agree..why is rogers opening his mouth? He can`t cover an old lady..and he has worse hands than a defensive tackle.
He wants to remain in Washington...the real question is does Washington want him back?
I would thin the answer is NOOOOOOO FRICKING WAY!
He has turned out to be one of the all time worst (high) first round draft picks in the team`s history.

Hands of stone obviously has a brain of stone as well...

Rogers is a good physical corner. Probably was drafted too high but is a legitimate starter. He's been burned a few times by double moves and teams will target that next year, but that's also good experience for any corner to have.

What I don't get is why he apparently doesn't work on his hands like the entire off season. Wouldn't you expect him to be in WR clinics and catching 100 balls a day and doing tip drills until he goes mad? Spray some dam stick-um on his gloves.

Carlos 'Butter' Rogers, you are delusional. You can't cover and you can't effin catch interceptions THROWN RIGHT TO YOU.

Take your country @s$ back to Auburn and run a pig farm or a henhouse...but hell, you wouldn't be able to catch them either
