Do Caps fans veer Republican?

More details from the WaPo poll about D.C. sports fans and their favorite teams:

* Of locals who have a favorite local team, 25 percent of northern Virginians chose the Caps, compared with 19 percent of Marylanders and 9 percent of District residents. Support for the Caps was higher outside the Beltway than inside.

* Nearly three in 10 white residents called the Capitals their favorites, more than double the level among non-whites.

* Republicans (30 percent) and independents (26 percent) were more likely to call the Caps their top team than were Democrats (17 percent).

* I just love Danny Granger's reaction upon losing to the Wizards. "That little guard, I don't even know his name. No. 9, down the stretch, he was pretty good," said Granger, who had to look at the box score to figure out Cedric Jackson's name.

* Sixers GM Ed Stefanski, upon firing Eddie Jordan: "What I thought would happen did not occur, the decision was not a right one. That's why I made the choice to go now in a different direction to get someone to get us the right path." (From SB Nation)
