Redskins RB trio by the numbers
So the Redskins now have Larry Johnson, Clinton Portis and Willie Parker. That's 21,274 combined rushing yards. That's a lot of yards. Here are some more numbers.
14 There are only 14 active backs with more than 5,000 career rushing yards. All three of these guys make the list; Portis is fifth among active backs, Johnson is ninth, and Parker is 14th.
9 There are only nine active backs 30 or younger with more than 5,000 career rushing yards. All three of these guys make that list, too. Portis is third among active backs at 30 or younger, Johnson is fifth, and Parker is ninth.
7 Consecutive years that at least one of these backs have finished in the top 10 of NFL rushing yards. In 2002, Portis was fourth. In 2003, Portis was fifth. In 2004, he was eighth. In 2005, Johnson was third and Portis fourth. In 2006, Johnson was second and Parker was sixth. In 2007, Parker was fourth and Portis was sixth. In 2008, Portis was fourth.
So yeah, that makes seven straight years from 2002-2008. None last season, though.
3.7 Which brings us to last season. I have no idea how much these guys have left, but the 2009 numbers weren't encouraging. The three men combined for 400 carries, 1,464 and one rushing touchdown. That's an average of 3.7 yards per carry.

Unless the team gets some decent guys up front, not only will the QB be sacked often but this trio of aged and slow backs will be lucky to get 1000 yards total amongst them.
