The Nats say "Let's Go Capps"

(By Cheryl Nichols - Nats News Network)

This "Let's Go Capps!" thing has been happening at Nats Park for a good deal of the season; the giant video board even plays along. If the Wizards would only sign former George Mason star Tony Skinn, it's like we'd all be one happy D.C. franchise together.

Also, in the movie version of this happy coincidence, Capps walks the bases loaded with a three-run lead in the top of the ninth of Game 7 of the World Series, and then suddenly the scoreboard shows Horn Guy and Goat parachuting out of a Slapshot-shaped blimp hovering over Nats Park, and in mid-air they lead a "Let's Go Capps!" chant and the Nats win and Ted Leonsis tackles Mark Lerner with happiness.

Until then, the scoreboard alert is pretty cool. Thanks to Cheryl Nichols from Nats News Network for the photo.

Though not all interactions between the two franchises are so smooth. Witness this letter, sent to....someone. Somewhere. It would be hard to squeeze many more errors into one mailing address. (Via @BillGluvna)

I like that you assume we'd have home field advantage in the World Series.

Of course, if the chant is apropos of the hockey team, wouldn't Capps just choke in the NLDS?

If MLB moves the All-Star game out of AZ in 2011, what's the chances of Nationals Park getting the game.

Much credit to Tom Davis of the Nats for seizing the Let's Go Capps!

There is only so much originality you can come up with these days for stadium entertainment unless you are the Marlins and put out models in skimpy outfits which is testing the waters because baseball doesn't really do that.

The President's Races have run their course, so to speak, so what is more fun then Sweet Caroline and Let's Go Capps and some fireworks after a Win!

Tom Davis does an amazing job with the entertainment.

The racing Presidents should be changed up with a real race like the racing legends of Washington baseball like Frank Howard, Walter Johnson, Josh Gibson, and Harmon Killebrew!

To be fair, there are still signs in DC that point to the MCI Center. I snapped this on my cell a few months ago:

That's the Dept of Commerce in the background, I think
