Vinny Cerrato at Redskins Park

(By John McDonnell - TWP)

You know what was weird? When Vinny Cerrato came to Redskins Park last week for that alumni barbecue. That was weird.

I mean, more power to him. He's a part of the franchise's history, and he's every bit the alumni as football players with two or three years of experience. I just figure personally, I'd want to stay away from a place whence I had recently decided to resign in order to spend more time with my family, or whatever the official explanation was.

Like, I don't expect to see Glen Hanlon at the next Caps Convention, or Jim Bowden riding his Segway down South Cap Street, or Tony Korn...well, you know what I mean.

Anyhow, just in case you demand photographic evidence, here you go. And no, there were no Jim Zorn sightings.

Inviting him back is like surviving lung cancer and smoking a cigar to celebrate.

love the second pic of vinny discreetly giving Shanahan the bird! kind of ironic the washington post bog would capture vinny's true feelings being expressed. if only jla could have been there to have his questions and interview requests ignored...

It's hard for me to rip on the guy when he's wearing that hat...damn.

Why shouldn't Vinny Bugeyes attend and revel in the destruction he has caused?

It's not as if this modern-day Rasputin isn't singlehandedly responsible for countless dumb decisions that will adversely affect this franchise for years to come -- all the while playing head sycophant to the Mad Dwarf.

Besides, it's not as if Vinny has actually relinquished his role as center ring court jester and prime confidante to the Midget Megalomanic.

All he may have done is become a little more discreet and subtle about it.

And it's not like he hasn't done this disappearing act before, only to reappear later -- and even worse than before.

So little (if anything) has really changed now, has it?

While some might say, "Welcome back Vinny" -- others will note that he never really left.

Vinny to Mike..."Jeeze, what are you planning to do with all of those offensive linemen?"

Mike to Vinny..."I had you fired before I took the job because I couldn't have some moron trading draft picks for the likes of TJ Duckett".

You would think attending an alumni barbeque within a year of your firing would be a shameful event, a truly pride swallowing exercise.

Come to think of it, it makes perfect sense. Vinny has no sense of shame or pride.

Who cares if Vinny was there, just as long as he's gone!

I SOOOO wish Zorny was there. Just so I could see a picture of Zorn shooting lasers at Cerrato with his eyes, then throwing large rubber balls at Donovan McNabb with gusto. Just for fun.

He's lucky there were no fans there. He would have been booed out of Ashburn! Let him show up during training camp!

Vinny will show up at training camp wearing a disguise. As someone else noted: how can you be gone if you haven't really left? As long as Snyder owns this team and Vinny breathes on this planet, the Redskins are doomed.

maybe he's there to play some raquetball with his buddy.
Will he ever go away?

Maybe he's providing another set of eyes for Dan.
