Wizards fans want ketchup, mustard, draft picks

At Ted Leonsis's "I'm-buying-the-Wizards" press conference last week, he mentioned having already gotten three e-mails from one fan about the ketchup dispenser and ketchup quality at Verizon Center.Turns out this fan has a soulmate somewhere out there in Internet land, because Leonsis has also gotten fan e-mails about the mustard at Verizon Center. One Strasburg program to the first fan who e-mails Leonsis to complain about the relish.

Leonsis wrote on his blog on Monday that he has already read more than 2,000 e-mails from Wizards fans, and their concerns range from the serious ("Want more web analytics made available -- don't be afraid to publish stats) to the humorous ("Make cheerleading squad more family oriented") to the ridiculous ("Fresher hot dog buns"). I'll pick six that I agree with, but you should go examine the entire list:

* Play less loud music during the games -- want to hear the sneakers on the floor.

* Vegetarian fare on menu.

* Don't trade your first round picks.

* More Wizards history evident in building. Want to see more alumni at games.

* Create more and better merchandising options.

* Change colors for team uniforms.

Well, I guess "Win a championship" isn't bad, either. Leonsis already had a conference call with a 2.000 fans last week, and will host several hundred former season-ticket holders at Verizon Center tonight. The event is closed to the media. Someone, for the love of Wes Unseld, ask about Verizon Center's barbecue sauce.

Let me be the first to complain about the Verizon Center wasabi...

To be fair, given Leonsis' open-door policy, I don't think complaints about the food service vendors are inappropriate. Similar complaints got DC United to take action this past offseason.

Ted's list of ideas is already much better than Dan Snyder's list of ideas, mainly because Ted actually went through the trouble of assembling and releasing one.

The existence of this list is further evidence of why Ted is a great owner and The Danny is a miserable owner.

Looked at the whole list and found myself agreeing with quite a few of the suggestions. Love the fact that Ted is receptive to our gripes. Can't wait for his "101 things to do to help you fall in love with the new Wizards" list.

More than anything, love the fact that there will be a "new Wizards!"

Please change the Wizards and Mystics nicknames Ted. We dont have to go back to Bullets just have another vote to choose nicknames with a DC/American theme for both teams that flow with the Capitals and the Monumental Sports and Entertainment brand. We can wear Red, White and Blue and bring back some of the Bullets traditions just change the teams name please!

I sent him an email asking if he can do anything about the terrible quality of the broadcast when the Wizards (or the Caps) get moved to CSN+.

If Angelos can arrange for MASN to broadcast every Nats and O's game in HD, I can't see why Ted can't do the same for his teams.

bryc3, i think ted kinda addressed that when he suggested that his new company name would sound great as a regional sports network. i think that was a veiled shot at comcast that if they dont do it better, he'll be looking to creat a MASN type network for the caps, wiz, hoyas, mason, etc....

No more "Quick Change" as a halftime-show, please.

Everything seems better when the teams win. If the Wizards become a winning franchise, most things around the arena will seem like great ideas while continuing to lose will see most of these suggestions irrelevant

FIRE BUMFELD!!!

Yeah, let's fire one of the most well respected, best GMs in all the NBA and the best the Wizards/Bullets have had in more than 30 years. That's the ticket. While we're at it, I say we bring back Wes Unseld to run this team. We won't win many games, but at least we won't have a GM whose name rhymes with bumfeld...and that should really be a goal of any team, don't you think?
