Stephen A. Smith wants Haynesworth crucified

If Albert Haynesworth shows up to Redskins training camp in fine enough shape and doesn't complain and apologizes to his teammates, an entire cottage industry of blog posts will be gone. So, before then, let's get in some final shots.

Stephen A. Smith, care to help?

Mike Shanahan would be justified in crucifying Haynesworth for his nonsense. How the hell are you going to cash a $21-million bonus and NOT show up to work. He's already gotten paid, so suck it up. The Redskins are not going to be that good anyway. McNabb will get'em to 8-8.MAYBE.

That was written on Twitter, so maybe it wasn't up to Smith's usual standards of controversy-mongering. Like, if he had thought about it a bit more, he probably would have recommended Haynesworth first be flogged and outfitted with a crown of football spikes before his crucifixion.

Oh, by the way, maybe you noticed the shot at the Redskins in the second part of Smith's thoughts there. Skins safety Kareem Moore sure did. Here was his response, also via Twitter:

"WOWWWWW."

Does Steven A. even have a job anymore?

Can you imagine your life being so empty that you would sign up to be a follower of Steven A.'s twitter account?

steven a is on fox sports radio everyday

He's a blowhard but sadly, I don't know that he is necessarily wrong. It's a lot of transition going on once again (better offense but a potential step back defensively as they adjust), and McNabb might get em to 8-8. Maybe.

He's right. The skins only won 4 games last year so what makes folks think that they'll be better than 8-8? The O-line still stinks and they had their typical Redskin off-season where they go out and get big names and or switch coaches. They still have Clinton Portis who's career is over, no big threat at receiver and by the way the offensive line still stinks. It doesn't matter who they put at QB because whoever they put back there will get murdered! The defense was OK last year but they pretty much still have the same personnel which includes Carlos Rodgers (who can't cover a snuggie) at corner and Laron Landry (who only looks to make Sports Center hits, but gets burned by the deep ball)at safety. Sometime the truth hurts

Smith's head should just be a big mouth. Just a big mouth sitting on top of his neck and shoulders.

I can't stand Stephen A. Smith. And that is why he's popular, cause everyone hates him.

HUH? Obviously, you are a KID. What big names have the Skins brought in this off season??? And the O line is much improved...last season it consisted of O line back up player to antoher O line back up player on a weekly basis DUE TO INJURIES. Otherwise, we would have won more games. In fact, we lost most of our games by only 3 points...or a point. That is why we were 4-12.

I think what everybody fails to understand in this Haynesworth deal is that this $21 mil was OWED TO HIM. It was bonus money that was agreed to WHEN HE SIGNED. The fact that the payment was split up is irrelevant, and Shanahan had no authority (he's not the GM or the owner) to tell AH leave before you get the rest of the money that the Redskins shaky ownernship AGREED to pay you.

Why would AH do the Redskins a favor and leave before getting what was DUE to him. They should have NEVER agreed to it in the beginning. C'mon, $100 mil??!! With like $50 mil guaranteed??!!! That's just stupid!! Signing bonuses have nothing to do with doing your job. It's a bonus based the players decision to accept the position.

With that said I DO NOT AGREE with AH missing any MANDATORY activity whatsoever, but the way it was presented to the media was equally unprofessional. My hope is for AH to bust his hump and prove every naysayer and hater wrong this season. GO SKINS!!!

I think McNabb and Shanahan can get the Redskins to at least 8 wins. With a little luck maybe steal another game or two. You can look at the glass being half empty or half full. I'm looking half full.

No bigger critic of Albert than me...but it's all on him now to show and prove.

The Danny made a sucker bet and Big Greasy pushed all his chips to the middle of the buffet table.

Now it's about playing some ball...

This is all off-season fodder to keep our attention and to aid in football writers justifying their paychecks year 'round.

Now, the gig is up. I don't care about Butterworth missing camp. I don't care about the drama that went with that. Haynes-girth is a cog in the machine, but an important cog nonetheless.

I am only looking at week 1 versus the cowgirls. If Fat Albert layeth the smackdown on Tony "do these pants make my butt look big?" Romo and stuffs a few third-and-shorts....everyone will be as peachy as the toppings on Mr. Human TV Timeout's double-stack of flap jacks.

I'm glad that he's P.O.'d. There's nothing better than the possibly best interior lineman in the league feeling like he has to prove himself.

Eat 'em up Al! (pun intended)

Stephen A. Smith? He's a Philly guy of course and owns limited edition McNabb AND Iverson knee-pads.

Hey Stephen A.?

Say HOW-EVAH like 5 million more times.

Pretty sad that in a world of sports catch-phrases to be known for, both Stephen A. and Stuart "busted headlight" Scott both have resorted to ebonics.

BOO-YAH!

Steven A. has slowly remade himself into a conservative radio guest on shows like Mark Levin on AM630. He used to be a race baiter.

Steven we know you get paid to talk, but sometimes you should just zip-it.

Redskins owed him the money and the only reason they did this is so they don't have it count against the cap later...

Good God people

It still irritates me to no end that foxsports radio replaced the Czabe with Stephen A. A man who went from ESPN's most omniprescent personality to fired within the span of 3 years. A man who makes Colin Cowherd look insightful.

Were people just that desperate to be screamed at in the morning? Was Skip Bayless not available?

Even if you buy into the "improved" O-line (I don't) or think that McNabb is another Sonny Jurgeson (I don't), you still have to deal with the harsh reality that we have three broken-down has-beens at running back and are trying to run a 3-4 defense with 4-3 personnell.

I dislike Stephen A. as much as anybody else but he's right when he says that this team will be lucky to finish 8-8.

"I dislike Stephen A. as much as anybody else but he's right when he says that this team will be lucky to finish 8-8."

When it comes to baskeball, he's pretty knowledgable. I guess I'm one of the few that likes him because he tells people what they don't always wantto hear...the truth.

Saying that I don't pay attention to anybody when it comes to trash talking, and clearly he's a Philly guy.

I have said for years it's not a coincidense that the best coaches/QB's make the playoffs every year. If that holds up then the Skins are as good as in this year.

Stephen A. is just mad because his dumb team traded away a their star QB to Washington. :)

Redskin fans obviously hate to hear the truth. How many years have we seen wholesale changes during the offseason and how many seasons have they gone 8-8 or worse - MANY. I for one don't expect anything different than what we've seen the past 10 or more years and that is start at 8-8 and hope for the best and usually end up disappointed. Even Joe Gibbs couldn't turn around a culture of mediocre performance by this squad and I don't believe Shanahan, McNabb, or Haynesworth will make that much of a difference. I just want football and it don't necessarily have to be the deadskins.

He already failed the test apparently.

The only thing Smith got wrong is the prediction. The Skins, if they are VERY lucky will go 6-10. McNabb SUCKS big time, is a perennial choker, and has been the most overated QB in the league since he threw his first pass. Anyone who thinks they have even a remote chance at making the playoffs is DELUSIONAL.

Personally, I am glad they got McNabb. It put the final nail in the coffin for me, regarding the Skins. I could not care less if they ever win another football game again.
