George Mason basketball with gladiators in Rome
The George Mason basketball team is currently on a 10-day summer tour of Italy. And since everything about this photo of the Patriots and Coach Jim Larranaga posing with gladiators outside The Colosseum is pretty much perfect, I'm not going to waste any words with commentary.
Just know that the last time Larranaga visited The Post's offices, he stopped by the sports department and was soon talking about geography. Dude loves his geography. Rest assured, he will force those kids to learn about Italy while they're in Italy, likely with Jeopardy-style bus quizzes. Also, they've already taken to Gelato, it would appear.
Since the Colosseum trip, the team has moved on to Florence, but they left Rome satisfied with their performance, which included a win and also this note from senior Isaiah Tate.
Our last night in Rome was filled with enjoyment. The team and I enjoyed a five course meal at an outdoor restaurant in downtown Rome, followed by a night of fun walking around Rome. We managed to put on a show for foreign and domestic bystanders.
Hopefully with fake grapes and swords. Follow the Patriots' exploits at the team's Italy Blog.
