Jason Campbell Raiders jerseys allowed at Redskins Park

Wednesday's brief nugget about a fan at Eagles training camp being asked to remove a Redskins McNabb jersey became quite an Internet sensation. Here's the passage, from Philly Sports Daily:

A fan wearing a Donovan McNabb No. 5 Redskins jersey was asked to remove it. The reason? The fan said the security guard told him Andy Reid took notice.

Very quickly, every Internet site in the world mentioned this, including Pro Football Talk, Sports By Brooks, Deadspin, Fox Sports, Hogs Haven, The Early Lead, NBC Philadelphia, and likely the Food Channel and Alibris.

And when Bruce Allen appeared on ESPN 980, Kevin Sheehan and Thom Loverro mentioned this incident and asked if a Jason Campbell Raiders jersey would be removed from Redskins Park.

"No, no," Allen said. "I bet it wasn't Andy. I bet it was someone blaming Andy for it. The great thing about our fans, somebody came with an Eagles McNabb jersey the training camp. I saw the person, and the burgundy and gold fans let them know that they didn't appreciate it."

More seriously, Allen was asked about turning the franchise around, and he said again that this isn't a long-term project.

"The basics of sports is simple," he said. "You just have to have a firm conviction. Once again, it's very hard for young coaches sometime to have that conviction, because they can't fall back on their previous experiences of success. We believe in our Plan. We believe that The Plan we're going to try to execute is no different than The Plan Vince Lombardi did in 1969, or my father, or Coach Gibbs.

"It's everybody on the same page, everybody [going] in the same direction, and rooting for your teammates to have success as much as you're rooting for yourself to have success. And it shouldn't take that long, and it shouldn't be that complicated, because wherever you look, that's how success happens in sports."

And Allen was then asked about his expectations for this season.

"I don't do expectations," Allen said.

I hate questions about expectations or record predictions. If your expectations aren't 19-0 and a Super Bowl win, then you're in the wrong profession.

I expect to shoot a bogey-free round this weekend. Ain't gonna happen, but I'm not going to fail before I even try.

How about a "Dumb and Dumber" jersey with accompanying photos of Snyder and Cerrato just for old times' sake? Would that jersey be removed from Redskins Park?

Oh great, another D.C. team talking about The Plan.

I'm surprised the headline for this post didn't follow the thread of ever more thinly veiled attacks on Jim Zorn. If only he had some conviction...

I would rather a DC team talk about their plan then continue with our old philosophy of spinning around in circles with a Nerf gun shooting at chickens with the names of free agents tied to their necks.

What is wrong with this team is that they don't accept rebuilding. This team must be remade from top to bottom and they won't admit that they need to be bad for a few years, accumulate high draft picks, to be good in the future, vis a vis, the Caps.

Most of the reason why is that the Redskins fanbase is so delusional that they believe that every year is a Super Bowl year and the Redskins should also win the Oscar for Best Picture too.

Oh, and if they bring back the Dumb and Dumber sign and t-shirt, they should also add a Dumbest with an arrow pointing to the wearer for giving Comrade Snyder their money year after year for a substandard product with a horrible gameday experience where they are overcharged for everything and treated with contempt.
