Now these offseason shenanigans are starting to bother me.

The Caps just came off of a heartbreaking choke in the playoffs and with a make or break season coming up (where there WILL be changes if next season ends like this one did), Ovie is screwing around in Moscow.

As much as I can't stand him, even I can't question The Sid's dedication and work ethic and I bet it still burns him that the Habs beat his team too. The difference being that Sid isn't everywhere yukking it up.

Layoff. It's called the offseason for a reason. Some of these players are a ridiculously long season, especially with the olympics. Sometimes players need to blow off some steam. Ovie admitted himself that him and Backstrom were tired after the olympics.

Sidney must be working hard. How do you know? Just because there aren't articles on blogs about him in the offseason doesnt' mean you don't know exactly what' he's doing 24/7. Ovie said he's going to start conditioning this month. Let these guys have a life.

One more thing, you say caps choked in playoffs etc etc...people forget we did have the best record in the league and the caps and pens just ran into a hot goalie at the wrong time. It's not like an 8 hasn't beaten a 1 before. It happens, that's part of hockey. Playoff hockey is not a guarantee, everyone knows this.

The video clip is part of an Ovechkin dvd being made by the NHL. They've been following him around Moscow for a week.

As for training, he already said weeks ago that he is working out with other players - three hours a day.

Fact is, the team DID choke in a big way last season and the President's Trophy isn't worth a pile of you know what. If Ovechkin isn't training harder than he's ever trained this offseason, then all the hype about how much he wants to win is nothing but Leonsis happy talk...........

I'd like to nominate these two for stupidest comments of the year. Comment one asserts that Ovechkin should spend the entire offseason in mourning every year he doesn't win the championship, or it shows he's not dedicated. Comment two suggests that a 27-second video of him driving in his home country proves that he is not training at all in the offseason.

Why do we always demand more out of athletes than we do of ourselves. The man deserves time off just like we all do.

So does this mean Ovie is back with Igor Larionov's hottie daughter?

The difference being that Sid isn't everywhere yukking it up.

Funny how you can critique Ovie as you goof off on your own job posting on web blogs and surfing the internet. You should try following your own advice. Maybe you can get that raise and promotion.
